‘After Earth’ International Trailer

Like other websites focusing on the entertainment business, we at mnightfans.com, are not going to predict the success or failure of a film from its teaser trailer. Not because, we are a fan of Mr. Shyamalan and his artistic oeuvre, it’s just that to us here, predicting the success or failure of the film based on its first teaser trailer or poster does not,  in any way or manner, make any sense.

Columbia Pictures this morning released the international trailer to Mr. Shyamalan’s ‘After Earth,’ which centers on a father and his son after their spaceship crash lands on a land full of surprises. Father played by Will Smith  is injured and it is now his young son’s, played respectively by Jaden Smith, responsibility to fight everything comes their way to protect his father. This boy’s dream was to become a soldier like his father some day, and now, he gets that opportunity to show that he’s capable of standing on his feet and with strong heart to fight evil. It looks fantastic and dark in tone as I predicted; Mr. Shyamalan has crafted a post-apocalyptic world full of creatures, adventure, beauty and the action looks frightening.

After Earth Synopsis:

In After Earth, one thousand years after cataclysmic events forced humanity’s escape from Earth, Nova Prime has become mankind’s new home. Legendary General Cypher Raige (played by Will Smith) returns from an extended tour of duty to his estranged family, ready to be a father to his 13-year-old son, Kitai (played by Jaden Smith). When an asteroid storm damages Cypher and Kitai’s craft, they crash-land on a now unfamiliar and dangerous Earth. As his father lies dying in the cockpit, Kitai must trek across the hostile terrain to recover their rescue beacon. His whole life, Kitai has wanted nothing more than to be a soldier like his father. Today, he gets his chance.

After Earth opens on June 7, 2013.
