BoxOfficeMojo.com has now posted the studio box-office estimates for the weekend of June 13th-15th, and the figures for The Happening put it as Shyamalan’s 3rd biggest opening weekend ever at $30.5 million. A couple other sources estimate the weekend take at $32.3 million – but we’ll have to wait til Monday afternoon to get the official numbers. All in all, this is pretty encouraging news considering some insiders predicted an opening of only $18 million.
Looks like The Happening will be a bounce back for Night after the financial disappointment of Lady in the Water.
