Wednesday, February 22nd, 2012 by RohanFor the past few weeks, Mr. Shyamalan has been sharing some interesting pictures from the set of his new film, After Earth from Costa Rica starring Will Smith and his son Jaden Smith in the lead. After Earth tells the story of a father and son who crash land on earth 1,000 years after mankind has deserted the planet.
The cameras commenced rolling on February 6th, 2012 in Costa Rica rainforests, via Twitter, Mr. Shyamalan and via their facebook profile and whosay profile both Mr. Will Smith and son, Jaden Smith have been sharing their pictures, which can you find in the articles below. The cast and crew of the film arrived in Costa Rica on February 4th, and a day later, Shyamalan himself arrived on the set. This is the first time that he is going to shoot in digital and on February 8th, he revealed that he is using the new Sony F65 camera. Today, Mr. Shyamalan again via his twitter stated that he has wrapped the shooting in Costa Rica; now the cast and crew of the film will head to Philadelphia, where they will be shooting through the end of April 2012. One confirmed shooting location in the Greater Philadelphia is the Budd Manufacturing Facility. As soon as we obtain information regarding more location information, we will update the site immediately.
The shooting in Costa Rica was a smooth process for the whole crew. There were no major delays or anything except one day they had to halt the shooting due to heavy rainfall, and also a minor earthquake occured one day, which didn’t do any harm or damage to anything or anyone. After that they resumed their work. After Earth will hit the big screens on July 2013.

Some photos from the sets of Shyamalan’s After Earth
Wednesday, February 8th, 2012 by RohanHere come some fresh images from the sets of Shyamalan’s sci-fi movie After Earth starring Will Smith and his son Jaden Smith. The production is currently underway in Costa Rica. Via Twitter Mr. Shyamalan yesterday revealed that this is the first film he will be shooting digitally; he is using the Sony F65. And, he stated the reason he chose this type of camera is because of its ability to convey naturalism as well as its technical latitude. The forests in Costa Rica are very dark.
And today Will Smith via his official facebook profile shared some interesting pictures of himself and his son Jaden from the sets. Enjoy.
Production Update #1: Shyamalan’s directing begins
Saturday, February 4th, 2012 by RohanThings are moving fast lately; last week Shyamalan’s crew boarded their planes to Costa Rica where they will be filming in one of the rainforests there. Location is unknown and again for that if anyone in the area is available you can always contact us for latest production updates. According to Mr. Shyamalan, After Earth is a dream project for him. We are excited as much as he is. We will continue to bring palatable updates and images as soon as we obtain them. Via Twitter, Shyamalan released two images from the set of the film in Costa Rica, which you can view below. In the one of the images he is looking down at a lake thinking how to get a reflection shot, and the second image he is standing behind the trees directing his crew.
[Updated] ‘After Earth’ casting call and filming schedule
Tuesday, January 31st, 2012 by RohanYesterday we reported that Mr. Shyamalan was going to commence the shooting of his next film After Earth on February 6th. Not only that, but Mr. Shyamalan and screenwriter Mr. Gary Whitta both revealed that the crew are getting ready to fly to Costa Rica this week for filming. Not much detail regarding the shooting was divulged or I guess it was reported somewhere and I missed it.
Now On Location Vacation is reporting that the Philadelphia portion of the filming is expected to commence late February/early March, and last through end of April. Since the crew is heading to Costa Rica this week, I believe once they are done filming, they will head back to Philadelphia, where most of the filming will take place. Heery Casting is currently handling the extras for the film, yet there no open casting calls.
But, what’s interesting is that Heery Casting’s official site states that they are currently looking for ‘military types’ to work as background on a feature film to be shot in Philadelphia. Details of the project are confidential, but it is a major studio project with an award winning director and stars. Shooting will begin in February and run through April 2012. We are not 100% sure that this this open casting call for After Earth. If anyone have information regarding the filming locations and castings calls, contact us!
Update: Smith arrived in Costa Rica at 9 a.m. Wednesday 2/01/2012, the immigration director at Juan Santamaría International Airport confirmed to the daily La Nación.
CASTING CALL UPDATE: Just received confirmation from a friend in Philadelphia that Heery Casting has open casting call for M.Night Shyamalan’s ‘After Earth’ in Philadephia. They are looking for ‘Military Types.’ For more detailed information visit their site at www.heerycasting.com.

[Updated] Shyamalan almost ready to roll the camera ‘After Earth’
Thursday, January 26th, 2012 by RohanIn just about a week or two Shyamalan will roll the cameras to shoot After Earth. For the past few months he’s been occupied with the casting of the film, location scoutings, and recently finished rehearsal sessions with Will Smith and Jaden Smith. Previously via Twitter Shyamalan stated that the tone and atmoshphere of After Earth’s story will be close to Ridley Scott’s 1979 sci-fi epic Alien.
And again just recently via Twitter Shyamalan shared a very interesting picture, which you can see below. It’s slightly giving us the idea behind the art of the film’s title design if you look at M.Night Shyamalan’s name.
Update: Via his google+ profile Gary Whitta has revealed that this week the cast of the film is heading to Costa Rica to begin filming. Then onto Philadelphia, Utah, and Northern California.
Costume Designer Amy Westcott joins ‘After Earth’ team
Thursday, January 19th, 2012 by RohanIt seems like Mr. Shyamalan is building his team very carefully. Starting with the casting of Will Smith and his son Jaden Smith for his project, After Earth first, and then casting Sophie Okonedo, Zoe Kravitz, and Isabelle Furhman. After Earth script was originally written by Gary Whitta ( Book of Eli), and then Shyamalan himself did some of the writing. After that screenwriter Stephen Ghagan (Traffic) and Mark Boal (The Hurt Locker) also did some polishing on the script respectively.
Now via twitter, Shyamalan just disclosed to the world that costumer designer Amy Westcott is going to be working with him on After Earth. Amy’s credit includes films like Black Swan, The Wrestler.
Empire Strikes Back Cinematographer Working on After Earth
Wednesday, January 18th, 2012 by Dr Malcolm CroweM. Night Shyamalan’s next film, After Earth, is quickly coming up on the start of filming. As you may have read in the news article below, Night has been posting pictures of the pre-production via his Twitter account. And for all of this time, we haven’t yet heard who will be shooting the picture. Well just recently Night tweeted that Peter Suschitzky (The Empire Strikes Back, Eastern Promises) will be the director of photography on After Earth.
Suschitzky has been in the business for nearly half a century, and began to make a name for himself working on films like The Rocky Picture Horror Show, The Empire Strikes Back, and Krull. Lately, the BAFTA nominated cinematographer has been working closely with David Cronenberg, having shot the majority of the director’s films, including Eastern Promises and A History of Violence.
Obviously with After Earth being a sci-fi film, his photography for The Empire Strikes Back is a major plus, and Suschitzky’s work with Cronenberg has been top notch. What do you all think about Night working with a new DP? His past collaborations have been really successful.
