Deschanel to star in ‘Happening’
Wednesday, May 30th, 2007 by Specter |Zooey Deschanel has inked to star with Mark Wahlberg in M. Night Shyamalan’s 20th Century Fox thriller “The Happening.” Helmer’s “Unbreakable” and “Sixth Sense” producer Barry Mendel will produce with Sam Mercer.
Deschanel’s credits include the upcoming “Surf’s Up,” “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford” with Brad Pitt, “Bridge to Terabithia,” and “Failure to Launch.” Thesp comes form a show biz family; father is cinematographer Caleb Deschanel, mother is actress Mary Jo Deschanel, as is sister Emily.
You may also remember her from her roles in “Elf” and “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.” I, for one, am getting more and more excited about this cast!

This is reasonably exciting news. I really loved Zooey's performance in Elf, and she's in a lot of promising upcoming projects. Zooey's really one of those girls that looks great as a blonde and a brunette, I wonder what Night will have her be in this?

Wait a sec… Who from “Lady in the Water” is going to be in this film? Remember, Night uses people only twice. From the looks of it it's goping to be an all new cast!
Oh wait… :laughing: I guess when Night finished “Unbreakable” he used a whole new cast for “Signs”, except for the minor characters…Ok I'm good now!
