Post by: marco on January 31, 2008, 09:15:58 AM
Ehi,guys!Nobody saw this movie?I saw it last week and I think it's quite good. Moreover, the soundtrack is amazing. Our "friend" Newton Howard have done another great job,in my opinion ;).
Tracks are quite similar each other, but there are 3 or 4 very very good!

The movie is absolutely awesome.  It's just a shame that they Hollywooded the ending.  It's a shame also that they didn't use the original story from the book, but that would have been extremely difficult to manage.  Although I'm sure Night would have been able to produce something from it.   ;)

The soundtrack was really gripping, and in the movie was pretty understated, so that it completely complimented the movie, rather than being the driving force for any particular scene.

It's on my list of things to go buy when I don't have to buy food anymore.   ;D

Yea, it may be good, but I have this really long list of movie soundtracks that I want to buy.

Hehe, me too.  I'm currently just trying to finish the Night ones!  I've got Unbreakable and Lady in the Water, but still have the others to get!

Then there's Batman Begins, I Am Legend and The Matrix Reloaded!

I bought I Am Legend not only because I was impressed with score in the film, but because there is plenty of stuff on the CD that wasn't used in the film which is also great.

I find it quite interesting how this filmed was scored, and how the director chose to use music in the film.

Yea, there are some other movies where it's interesting to see where the score is used.  Orandhite, I love soundtracks, I have all of the Shyamalan ones at the moment, and they are all worth it.  I also have Batman Begins, that is one of my favorite soundtracks that I own, out of 38,  I am waiting for I Am Legend to come from the library.

I heard that already exist two movies about the book, the first completely similar to the original story.Maybe they didn't want to make another movie like that,so they changed something.
However,I liked it.Some moments are very creepy,too :o

That's the first I've ever heard of other movies based on that story.

I don't know the titles in English, but in Italian they are:
1)L'ultimo uomo sulla terra - 1964
2)Occhi bianchi sul pianeta terra - 1975,with Charlton Heston (not sure)

In English they should sound like this:
1)Last man on Earth
2)White eyes on planet Earth (doesn't sound very well at all ::) ???)

That's some intersting stuff.  I'm just not to big a fan of foreign titles.  They always sound a little weird.

That doesn't mean there isn't a good foreign cover, I'm just saying for the most part I like American covers better.

Supposedly the 2-Disc DVD will feature a slightly different cut of the movie. I wonder if James' music will be used more in that cut?

I guess we will find out, when more info about the cut is released.

I've bought the 2-disc special edition, but I didn't notice any significant difference between the score of the two cuts ???
Moreover,I still prefer the original ending.

It's a powerful ost with the recognisive touch and newton's incredible sense for melody whilst being simple and restful. I heard the ost before watching the movie, inside movie, however, it is strangely arranged, and I didn't even catch where all the ost is actually played. Infact, I felt as if only one or two songs are actually in the movie. Strange, but nonetheless, the ost is top newton's production.
