Title: Spoiling your self or not.
Post by: Psychilles on February 04, 2008, 09:10:26 AM
A friend of mine is also a big movie fan, and he is so disiplined that he can resist himself from watching any form of promotion for a movie, before it comes out.

There is nothing he has seen, before he goes to the theater. A trailer or pictures or anything.
This way the movie experience is totaly new.

Everthing you see is new, and thus the experience is, he says, better or more overwhelming.
He did this with Inland Empire for example (Lynch fan).

Being an M. Night fan, I want to try and do this with the happening, but since I'm already looking for the trailer on the internet every day, I can't imagine being able to do such a thing.

Is there someone here who has done this before?, or after reading this says.. yeah!.. I want to try that for a change!

I think Dr Malcom Crowe and I, Mr_Glass.1, are trying it, but my will is faltering.

Yea, I have the same feelings as your friend.

I am trying this "don't watch the trailers" idea for this first time on The Happening and The Dark Knight.

So far with The Dark Knight, I have managed to go almost 2 months now without being tempted. And after the whole Heath Ledger tragedy, it's been a little more difficult, but I know it will pay off in the end.

Damm.. The Dark Knight, respect. haha..
I realy have a hard time at trying that.

I haven't been here that long, but you two are the forum pros right?
Has mr glass done this before?

Yeah, I think this is also Mr. Glass' first attempt at something like this.

Of course I seen movies without seeing the trailers before, but those are usually small movies, or movies I'm not terribly excited about.  ;)

Ok. I'm committing myself to not seeing the trailer too.

This is going to be hard. :P

What's your issue Dr Malcom Crowe, my first attempt at not watching the preview for a big movie and your finding the trailer for it.  Come on.   ;D

I had a question, I had a friend tell me this.  If I've already read script reviews, know the story, and have even read a review of the first few scenes, how is it going to spoil the movie by watching a trailer.

I must not watch it, still my question above stands, but with it taken down it makes it easier to not watch it.

I can't answer to you.I haven't read the script, but watching the trailer haven't spoiled me anything serious.Ehi,I don't want to tempt you ;D
If you believe in what you're doing, keep going straight ahead and don't look backward! ;)

That's the problem, keeping going.  If it won't spoil anything for me I think I will watch it.  At least maybe the trailer in front of Jumper.

haha.. well.. text is by far not the same as visuals, or sound for that matter.
M. night is not only a good writer.... A verry important thing for me is the way he uses camera and sound.

So for that matter... it would be spoiling to see the trailer.

I've managed to stay spoiler free for all of Night's films.  I tend to avoid anything other than adverts if they are on TV or the cinema, then see the movie, and then go crazy as soon as I have seen it looking for any information I can on it!

Luckily the teaser on this site was taken down before I could watch it!

Yea, I agree with what Psychilles said, allright, I will not watch it, at least not for now.  It's nice that it got taken down from the site.

I can't wait to see Jumper. The book was so good. I hope they didn't ruin it by changing the plot. (And I'll watch the trailer, too. I love trailers.:))

Yea, Jumper looks really good, I am hoping to see it.  It looks like an action movie with a really good plot.

This trailer is going to be so hard not to watch.
