Title: Michael Clayton
Post by: Mr_Glass.1 on March 21, 2008, 09:09:41 AM
I just bought the soundtrack for Michael Clayton yesterday.  It is really good, I can see why it was nominated for Best Movie Score.  It's not big and brassy, or real loud, it's somewhat sedated, lots of electronic sounding stuff.  I would definately recommend it though.

Sedated sounds accurate. I kind of think of it as cold and detached.

Very interesting score. I recommend seeing the movie, the score plays better when in context with the movie.

That's what I've heard, but the score is still really good.  I like what you said about the cold and detached, it fits well with the plot of the movie.

If I'm being honest, I enjoyed Michael Clayton but I thought it was an over-rated film. Enjoyable and thoughtful, yes, but nothing really connected that strongly with me EXCEPT for the Score. I thought James Newton Howard made a great score that carried the movie. It deserved it's nomination.

Sometimes I wonder about the scores that get nominated.   :'(

I think Michael Clayton was nominated because James had scored a rather impressive 7 movies that year - Michael Clayton being the best film of the bunch.
