Just listened to Eastern Promises and The Painted Veil, both very good soundtracks.  Last contemporary music I listened to was Seether.  Check that, Michael Card.  Unbroken, what's Snow Falling On Cedars?  ???

I haven't seen Snow Falling On Cedars but its music is very good. In some suspenseful parts it actually sounds very much like The Village, with a sort of wilderness sound to it. Whereas The Village has an 'autumn' feel to it, with a sort of beautiful turmoil, Snow Falling On Cedars is 'winter', with a little calmer, less rippling, not so much 'heartthrob' emotion. It's like an equally wild, but more mature sibling to The Village. It also sometimes has an Oriental twist to it.

The only problem I have with it is it's one of those really long albums (27 tracks) that loses a little flavor near the end, although the last two tracks are stunning.

It doesn't beat The Village, because its emotions aren't as strong - but it comes pretty close. I'd recommend it for any fan of James Newton Howard.

Huh, thanks for the notice Unbroken, I'll definately check that out.  Just listened to Eastern Promises again, man that is an amazingly beautiful soundtrack, it's heavily violin, but in a different mood than The Village.

Just recieved The Last Samurai soundtrack in the mail!  Havnt listened to it all, but its decent.  Some tracks are better than others.

I think it might be one of those soundtracks that arent as good without the film to go along with it.

Behind The Curtain Of A Modern Tomorrow ?2005

I bought this album for just ?1,00 (about $1.50), while I didn't really know this band. I was quite surprised, it's a nice album! (Though, very different from what you are all listing to :) )

Hey Lifeordeath1, I own The Last Samurai soundtrack, I like it, not Hans Zimmer's best, but still a good soundtrack.  DC 101.1 was the last music I listened to.

Yeah, def. not his best, but not bad.

Mr. Glass, what is DC 101.1?  Radio station? ???
Title: Re: Now Playing...

Not sure, but it sounds like a radio station (Washington DC, FM101.1 or something :P)

Here it is:

Yeah, I saw them once during the Black Holes & Revelations tour. They're one of my favoured bands, and Matt is the greatest guitar player ever! I mean, I can play most of Muse's songs, but not the live versions!

I prefer Rob Thomas' stuff with Matchbox 20 or Tabitha's Secret. Don't really enjoy his solo work except for 'Ever the Same' and 'Little Wonders'... which, in fairness, are both superb.

It's that good, maybe I need to check it out.  Just listened to the perfect stranger soundtrack, didn't really like it, to mundane and odd. By the way Erik, does The Black Out sing in Welsh, because that would be cool, I'm learning Welsh right now.
Title: Re: Now Playing...
Post by: Lifeordeath1 on April 29, 2008, 09:12:13 AM
Yeah, I looked and looked for it, and then one day I went into a store I had never been into before and there it was, FOR $6!!!!!  I was like YES!  I wanted it because of the beginning and ending title songs.  I listened to but didnt really like except for those certain songs, but now it has really grown on me.   ;D  I would recomend checking it out.  Its no JNH but, come one, who is?  Hehe.

I recently recieved The Aviator and Big Fish from ebay, which I got for $3 for both of them!  Big Fish is halfway decent, Aviator is more orchasrta like.

The Blackout sings in English. Though they have a Welsh accent. But why would you wanted to learn Welsh? There are way more fun languages...like Dutch!
Title: Re: Now Playing...
Post by: Mr_Glass.1 on April 30, 2008, 09:25:06 AM
I like the sound of Welsh, it was a language nobody else would learn, and it looked interesting.  Actually though, it is just the start, I want to learn a lot of those northern languages, Swedish, Norwegian, Finnish, that kind of thing.
Title: Re: Now Playing...
Post by: Erik on April 30, 2008, 11:56:55 AM
The Scandinavian languages are hard to learn. Not really for me, Scandinavian languages sound much like Dutch, but for a English/American it's pretty hard.
Harder than Welsh wich actually is a dialect from English (it's all UK)

O well, I don't care if they're hard, I want to learn them.

Really?  Hhhmmm... good huh?  The movie was stupid!   :'(  Could have been so much better!

Ever heard the Requiem for a Dream soundtrack?  Very... interesting.  If you have never seen that movie, crazy.  It will make you NEVER want to do drugs, or even think about it for that matter, as long as you live!  Its not a doc. true actors!  Insane.

I dont know if its for everyone, like I said before, the beginning and ending of the soundtrack are very good, but the middle will take some getting used to, it did me.  But now I really enjoy it, although it is one of my favorite movie!   :D

What did I listen to yesterday?

Lots of stuff on my IPOD!
A Beautiful Mind
Lord of the Rings
Patch Adams!  Now there is a good score!  The cd does have some regular songs on it, but the score is very very good!   ;D  Totally recomend it if you dont already have it!

The funny thing about Alter Bridge was that I downloaded 'One Day Remains', cause I thought I would never buy the album. It turned out to be one of the best albums of 2004 if you'd ask me. So later I bought an original copy of One Day Remains. I also got Blackbird. It has some nice songs, but unfortionally not as good as ODR. But it's not a bad album!
