Title: Releases outside US
Post by: Erik on September 18, 2008, 08:29:40 AM
Hey there,

Why is not every score of James Newton Howard/M. Night Shyamalan released outside the US? Here in Holland I can only get Signs and The Village. The other scores are not released in Holland. Though I remember seeing a copy of The Sixth Sense in Prague, but was too expensive.

Does anyone knows the answer?

Maybe it has something to do with the discographic. Sometimes they chek the country where they're going to sale an album and evaluate the possibilities that this album has to be sold, if they don't think it will be an attractive product in determinate countries they just don't produce it for those countries.

Th example is easy, think about some dutch pop music bands, maybe there in Holland they are a success, but out from Holand the discographic doesn't want to risk money with an album that people won't be interested for, and so yo only find the disc in your country.

I know, if a band only has succes in one or two countries, they won't release albums of them in more than those countries. Though soundtracks are a different story. The movies where quite well recieved in Holland, I can buy soundtracks of, I don't know how many movies. But not the JNH scores, only a few of them are released...

Well, you can copy them, or I can download them. In both cases it's illegal, and I want a real one, not a copy. I tried Amazon before, but I have no way to pay them. I don't have a credit card or any other American bank stuff.

I think that in time, I will find a way...but 'till then, I just have to do it with Signs and The Village :)
