Title: Got Riddles?
Post by: ACDCguy on October 09, 2008, 02:47:37 PM
All you have to do is post a riddle or a "makes you think" question and then the next person anwsers it and then gives their riddle. My riddle will be a common, simple, overused, yet most people can't anwser it. Well here it goes.

A father and his son are out driving. The car crashes and the FATHER dies instantly. His son is rushed to the hospital, and the doctor say, "I can't operate on him. He's my son".

Who is the DOCTOR?

A field biologist leaves her camp and walks one mile south where she takes some samples. She then walks directly east one mile where she is startled by an angry bear. She runs as fast as she can directly north one mile and arrives back at her camp. What color is the bear?

Well the only way you can go south then east then north is if you are at the north pole so the bear would be white.

(sarcasticly, not to Namaste though because you did post a riddle) Well thanks for the riddles guys.
You know I thought this thread was made for people to answer and then post riddles. Now I'll post another riddle then I expect the next person to anwser it and then post their own riddle, and so on. Really people it's not that hard. It's like "Interview you fellow forumers" thread.

A plane crashes on the border between the US and Canada. Where do you buiry the survivors?

Air you were right! it's a polar bear.

you don't bury survivors

before

row #                            1   2   3   4   5
# of people                     3   2   2   3   2

     top half-     3   2   2   3   2

bottom half-     3   2   2   3   2

after

row #                       3   4   5   1   2
# of people                3   3   2   3   2

     top half-     2   3   2   3   2

bottom half-     3   2   2   3   2

Row 3 only had two people who match up with the top two people of row 1 which is why the bottom person of row 1 is missing the top of their head after the edit.  Row 2 has two people that match up with row 4's bottom 2 people which is why the top person of row 2 is missing the bottom of his feet after the edit. The top of row 1 is now in row 4 who both had 3 people to begin with which is why there is still 3 in that row.

BOOYA!!! ;D

Alright, I'll do one.

A girl walks through a market and sees a really nice pair of socks, for just $10. So she goes to her father. "Dad, can I have 10 bucks?" "Only if you fix my car", her father says. So she tries to fix the car, and it works! She get's the money and returns to the market. When she arrives at the shop, she sees that the price of the socks hava changed. They are $20 now. So she goes to her mother. "Mom, can I have 10 bucks?" "Only if you fix the vacumcleaner", her mother says. So she tries to fix the vacum cleaner, and it works! She get's the money and returns to the market. When she arrives at the shop, she sees that the price of the socks hava changed. They are $30 now. So she goes to her sister. "Sister, can I have 10 bucks?" "Only if you fix my iPod", her sister says. So she tries to fix her iPod, and it works! She get's the money and returns to the market. When she arrives at the shop, she sees that the price of the socks hava changed. They are $40 now. So she goes to her little brother. "Brother, can I have 10 bucks?" "Only if you fix my computer", her little brother says. So she tries to fix the computer, and it works! She get's the money and returns to the market and buys the socks.
After a week she decides to wear the socks, but suddenly: BANG! Car exploded, father died. She wore black for the rest of the week. After that she decides to wear the socks again, but again suddenly: BANG! Vacum cleaner exploded, mother died. She wore black for the rest of the week. After that she decides again to wear the socks, and again, suddenly: BANG! iPod exploded, sister died. She wore black for the rest of the week. After that she again decides to wear the socks, and ofcourse, suddenly: BANG! Computer exploded, brother died. She wore black for the rest of the week.
She is really scared of the socks, she thinks they're haunted. But she has nothing to loose, so she tries to wear the socks again, and then the doorbell rang. She opens the door and sees a bear on her doorstep. What does the bear say?

Sometimes I'm to heavy to get off the ground
I may have scales, I may have feathers

well there are lizards that fly...but none that i know of with feathers. and i dont know any birds with scales. and dinosaurs all the characteristics, but you don't see any of them around anymore, flying or otherwise.

The anwser is Dinosaurs. Birds are included; all birds are dinosaurs thus dinosaurs have feathers and can fly. And yes there has been dinosaur fossils found with feather inprints. So you do see dinosaurs flying around every day.

Next riddle:
I'm big, I'm bold
I look of gold
I can handle a guitar
And I'm statued in a duck walk mode
I appear large and great
But my creators regard me as "Junior" of their debate
What am I?

Actually, dinosaurs were reptiles. all of them. and birds are NOT reptiles, so they are NOT dinosaurs. That's like saying people are fish.

and as for your last riddle...I'd say the Angus Statue. since you've already used dinosaurs, there's only one obsession left.

Yes, but what's it called?
Birds are direct desendace from dinosaurs. Birds might be in their own class but scientist argue that they evolved from a line of reptiles thus the dinosaurian line. The two are so close that they want to regroup them all into one "Dinosaurian" class. Calling birds dinosaurs is like saying humans are mammals (which we are).

36, its from an AC/DC song.

hmmm...can't think of  good riddle right now...Oh, I think I got one:

A monkey, a lion, and a giraffe are all stuck on a deserted island.
The monkey spots a banana tree, with only ONE bunch/cluster/bushel on it.
The giraffe volunteers to get them something to eat because he has the longest neck.
He goes up to the tree, but he can't reach, so the monkey climbs on his head and reachs up and shakes the tree so everything falls off.  How many coconuts are now on the ground?

he, kinda lame, but the best I could do at this late hour.

yeah, but you dunno if there are coconut trees around that HAVE been dropping them (they do tend to grow in the same places)..so I would say there's not enough information to know how many coconuts are on the ground.
What I can't figure out is what the lion has to do with anything..

I'm making up my own language. It borrows rules from Germanic (heavy in the vocab) and Romance languages (heavy in the grammar and alittle in the vocab). Try to translate this sentence to english and figure out how to prononce it:

A mi me ike hlstonarr m?sica, dp?jarr, ? wa??rr TV.

Good work!  ;D the word you questioned is just "draw"
It literally translates too: I like to listen to music, draw, and watch TV.
Now translate the pronouciation.

One question, how did you solve it?

I put question marks around draw because that was the word I was most unsure about lol,

I just guessed on it, but I took spanish, and I'm currently taking french, and I know russian, so those things might have something to do with it, oh and german is similar to english

Title: Re: Got Riddles?

Yeah German is close to English. So is Dutch, and Frisian. Collectively they are known as the West Germanic languages closely related to Northern Germanic (Scandinavian) languages. Frisian is the closest language to english. The reason English speakers have more difficulty understanding their closest form of language to english is because 41% of our vocab is of french origin. During the times of when Middle english was being spoken, Normandy (of the French) over took England. They spoke Norman, a dialect of french. After a couple of years the dialect changed to a new dialect called Anglo-Norman. After the fall of Normandy, England was ruled by it's domestic people again with english back as it's dominate language. After awhile Anglo-Norman french, and Middle English formed together and became Modern day English.
The reason that todays english isn't classified in the same family of languages as french is because it still retains western germanic grammar and 25% of it's vocab.

Frisian is the closest language to English and Scots is a really distinct english dialect that it's regarded as it's own language. Try to translate this sentence into english, both are the same sentence but one is in a dialect of frisian called West Frisican, and the other is in Scots.

West Frisican: De jonge streake it famke om it kin en tute har op 'e wangen.
Scots: The laddie straikit the lassie oan the chin an gied hir a smouch oan the chouks.

complete guess with no translator

The man (unsure on this word, maybe striked or stroked) the woman on the chin and kissed her on the cheeks.

(I think stroked would make more sense than striked lol)

Yeah, I'd go with that..except i would say boy instead of man and girl instead of woman..and struck/hit   ???

;D jonge looks like young or youth, and lassie looks like its just a feminine version of laddie

but the boy Struck/hit the girl then kissed her? that doesn't really make sense, I'm leaning more towards stroked. Oh, and I think you're right about it being a boy and girl, since it laddie and lassie

West Frisican: De jonge streake it famke om it kin en tute har op 'e wangen.
Scots: The laddie straikit the lassie oan the chin an gied hir a smouch oan the chouks.
This looks more like a combination of Dutch, Flemish and Fries (Small language, spoken in Friesland, a province in the north of The Netherlands).
Where is West Frisican spoken? In the UK or is it in fact the 'Fries' I was talking about?

Many a legend is told about me.
Many have sought me.

Water?

This is something you can't get right away. You might think so but it's actually a pun from a show.

1+2=

What was Lucent Technologies (a.k.a AT&T) original Name and what does their logo mean

Bonus riddle: What does the "Eye-Pyramid" on the back of the one dollar represent?
Title: Re: Got Riddles?
Post by: Namaste on November 18, 2008, 02:49:18 AM
wait..arent u gonna tell us the answer to the last riddle? or at least if one of those is right?

old name of AT&T is bell system. The logo has a variety of interpretations. the spherical portion is commonly accepted to be a minimalistic representation of the earth, with latitudinal lines being represented (sometimes being interpreted as lines of connection) and a marked bright spot in the northwest hemisphere of the globe, where American Telegraph and Telephone got it's start.

The capless pyramid with the all-seeing eye is too old and secret for me to give an absolute analysis of it's meaning. However, it is most commonly recognized in popular culture as the headline symbol of the illuminati and the new world order (note that novus ordo seclorum can be translated "new world order" and E Pluribus Unum as "out of many, one"). The pyramid is the basis for the organization of many secret societies including the illuminati which provides a top-down, compartmentalized structure of command. ugh..im not going to go into all the different levels of meaning of the two symbols, but historically they both go back to ancient egypt as much as 10,000 years ago. They do, of course, have roots going back before the creation of the world, but that won't be found by science.
Anyway, you the riddler should have the answer, so let's hear what you have to say.
Title: Re: Got Riddles?
Post by: ACDCguy on November 18, 2008, 05:00:38 PM
Well you are historically correct but AT&T was bought by Lucent Technologies (which is no longer in fuction). But I wasn't asking about AT&T. I was talking about Lucent Technologies. "Lucent" is a short term used by the company instead of the full name which was originally Lucifer. The logo was a red circle (satan's red eye).

You are correct about the pyramid and that the words translate to "new world order" and the E "out of many, one", but the "eye" is the "eye of light", or also known as "Lucifer's Eye". Lucifer, who is more known as satan or the devil is also known as the angle of light because he make's sin look good. So with the added "eye" the whole thing translates to: A new world order, out of many, one for whomever choses to follow Lucifer (satan).

Next riddle: Why does the government want to take away our weapons?
Title: Re: Got Riddles?
Post by: Namaste on November 18, 2008, 08:37:33 PM
Because people without weapons are slaves. An armed citizenry makes politicians do their jobs right...and when was the last time a politician wanted to do his job right?
Title: Re: Got Riddles?
Post by: Erik on November 23, 2008, 10:43:01 AM
Alright, I know one.
There are two guys. One of them has 3 children.
When you multiply the ages of the children, you'll get 36.
When you count all the ages of the children, you'll get the housenumber of guy no. 2.
The oldest child has red hair.

What is the age, and the house number?

There is only one answer possible!
Title: Re: Got Riddles?
Post by: AIR NOMAD on November 23, 2008, 05:22:55 PM
Ages: 2, 3, 6

House Number: Either 3 or 11, unsure what you meant by "count"

This is probably wrong, I have a feeling the answer is something unexpected lol, we don't need to know the eldest childs hair color.
Title: Re: Got Riddles?
Post by: Namaste on November 24, 2008, 01:00:36 AM

From the statement that the product of their ages is 36 the possibilities of the three individual ages are:
1,1,36 (addition sum=38)
1,2,18 (addition sum=21)
1,3,12 (addition sum=16)
1,4,9 (addition sum=14)
1,6,6 (addition sum=13)
2,2,9 (addition sum=13)
2,3,6 (addition sum=11)
3,3,4 (addition sum=10)

From the statement that the sum equals the house number it is possible to eliminate all but two possibilities, because the sums of the rest are unique and would allow for an immediate answer. so you need the ones which have identical answers to necessitate the final clue. The two remaining possibilities are 2, 2, and 9; or 1, 6, and 6. (which both add up to 13)

After the clue that the oldest has red hair you can eliminate 1, 6, and 6 because the oldest two have the same age thus there would be no single oldest son. The only remaining posibility is 2, 2, and 9.

Title: Re: Got Riddles?

No, elephants are shorter than a bus and don't resemble rhinos. And elephants are not studied by cryptozoologist.

Note: Cryptozoology is the study of hidden animals, sighted but not relatively known to science.

Here is an extended part of the riddle for help:

I kill elephants, but I am a herbivore
And I am simmilar to a crocodilian and a bird
What am I?
Title: Re: Got Riddles?
Post by: Namaste on June 15, 2009, 06:00:55 PM
actually cryptozoologists study animals that don't really exist, and there is no animal living in africa larger than a school bus.
Theoretically, however, you could be a Mokele-mbembe.
http://www.livingdinos.com/mokele_mbembe.html
Title: Re: Got Riddles?
Post by: ACDCguy on June 16, 2009, 11:25:14 AM
False statement, scientist clame they don't exist but cryptozoologist try to prove they exist, hence the name "hidden animals" because they blind the scientific world.

You can't say that there is no animal in Africa larger than a school bus because alot of Africa is still unexplored. The swamp that holds the Mokele-mbembe, 80% of it is still unexplored, and the swamp its self is the size of the state of Florida. I think a swamp that big can hold herds of animals larger than a bus.

No, it is not the Mokele-mbembe, that dinosaur fits a sauropod's dicription. But your on the right track.
