Post by: Mannyinthewater on August 01, 2006, 11:04:30 AM
This dvd is on its way from Blockbuster video online, can someone tell me how is it?. After Lady in the Water i have solidified as a huge fan of Shyamalan. The cover of the dvd puts me off...

Wide Awake is such a great movie!!You can feel it is a Shyamalan one throughout the whole movie, for me.Low budget, but same spirit.

Oh, you must see it! It's so touching, and so beautifully done. I can't even explain it....just a warning though...it's very sad (at least it was sad to me). There are some funny moments though (if I remember correctly). Anyway, the cover makes it look really stupid, but it's not like that at all! I was sort of taken aback by the cover myself...but when I saw the movie, I realized that it was an entirely different thing than I expected.

Yeah, the cover/poster for this movie is really misleading.

I just need to find a way to watch it, I usually don't go on a movie by its cover though.

Yeah, the cover/poster for this movie is really misleading.

Has anyone else seen the green M&Ms displays in grocery stores?

Btw, Doc: I like the picture in your signature. MNight is quite the fashion plate. I love that jacket!:)

Yeah, he's usually in dressed to kill.  :D

Has anyone else seen the green M&Ms displays in grocery stores?
No, but I am scratching my head at the seemingly random question.  :P

Oh, eh, sorry. I thought there was a national M&M (i.e. Mars Co.) promotion, and others would have seen it. On the M&M Valentine's Displays at the grocery chain we shop at, there are special, free-standing "Green is the color of love" M&M displays, with bags of green M&Ms. Hubby and I thought it was unusual for a Valentine's Day promotion to feature anything other than red or pink, so I wondered if it was a back-door marketing approach for "The Happening." Weird, I know, but I've seen stranger things--non-promotion promotions for the Blair Witch Project come to mind. Anyway, it made me think of The Happening. ... Sorry for the non sequitur. It's kind of my hallmark.  :-[

Sorry to go off topic, too.

That's fine, it was kind of a random question anyways.  Now I understand though, and no I haven't seen the m&m's.

Very interesting observation there.  :)
I think that would actually work as a marketing campaign for this movie, however, I'm not sure if that is the case right now.  ;D

I mean, I've heard of Star Wars being marketed on candy, but I can't think of any other movies.

I love Wide Awake. Really... it's one of Shyamalan's weaker movies but it's still great. I think it has a very positive, uplifting nature to it that I really connect to. It also asks a lot of mature questions relating to faith that I find deep and important for both Children and Adults.

Wide Awake had consisted everything that made M. Night Shyamalan popular not much later:
this is a strongly love oriented movie with deep spiritual emotions and it got a twist
at the end but now it's rather cute than creepy! ;) So I recommend it to everyone who
hasn't seen it yet!

Well, I know for years people have been saying that green M&Ms have an aphrodisiac effect (hence M&ms embracing of the myth with their "sexy female green M&M" character) But that is interesting that they had displays like that the same yr The Happening came out ;D I think it is just a coincidence.
