Academy Award Nominations
« on: January 22, 2008, 09:47:53 AM »
Oh, oh, I was just on IMDB and came across the Academy Award nominations, are these for real.  If so James Newton Howard was nominated for his score for Michael Clayton.  Just thought you people might want to know.

I actually haven't listened to it.  I have a lits of probably 50 soundtracks that I want and am just a little slow getting through them.

Michael Clayton is a really interesting score from James. It's party of his moody, atmospheric, synth driven scores of recent past.

It could seem quite normal, and mundane, but as a part of the film it's perfect.

I can see why it was nominated.

Congrats James!!

That's sounds interesting.  I'm so used to James Newton Howard doing orchestral scores it would be interesting to hear him do a synth driven score.

Freedomland
The Lookout
Michael Clayton
The Interpreter
Collateral
Dreamcatcher

Those are some JNH scores that come to mind that are primarily non-orchestra driven. Of course most of them use the orchestra for stuff, but feature other instruments or synths are the primary textures.
