Just listened to Eastern Promises and The Painted Veil, both very good soundtracks.  Last contemporary music I listened to was Seether.  Check that, Michael Card.  Unbroken, what's Snow Falling On Cedars?  ???

I haven't seen Snow Falling On Cedars but its music is very good. In some suspenseful parts it actually sounds very much like The Village, with a sort of wilderness sound to it. Whereas The Village has an 'autumn' feel to it, with a sort of beautiful turmoil, Snow Falling On Cedars is 'winter', with a little calmer, less rippling, not so much 'heartthrob' emotion. It's like an equally wild, but more mature sibling to The Village. It also sometimes has an Oriental twist to it.

The only problem I have with it is it's one of those really long albums (27 tracks) that loses a little flavor near the end, although the last two tracks are stunning.

It doesn't beat The Village, because its emotions aren't as strong - but it comes pretty close. I'd recommend it for any fan of James Newton Howard.

I am now listening to Cities by Anberlin. The most amazing rock album I have ever heard.

Huh, thanks for the notice Unbroken, I'll definately check that out.  Just listened to Eastern Promises again, man that is an amazingly beautiful soundtrack, it's heavily violin, but in a different mood than The Village.

Just recieved The Last Samurai soundtrack in the mail!  Havnt listened to it all, but its decent.  Some tracks are better than others.

I think it might be one of those soundtracks that arent as good without the film to go along with it.

Days In Grief
Jihad
Behind The Curtain Of A Modern Tomorrow ?2005

I bought this album for just ?1,00 (about $1.50), while I didn't really know this band. I was quite surprised, it's a nice album! (Though, very different from what you are all listing to :) )

Hey Lifeordeath1, I own The Last Samurai soundtrack, I like it, not Hans Zimmer's best, but still a good soundtrack.  DC 101.1 was the last music I listened to.
