Eerie Obama reference in "Lady in the Water"?
« on: April 25, 2008, 12:07:51 AM »
Anyone notice that Night's character in "Lady" was a writer who was destined to write a book that would influence a young man from the Midwest (!) who would become a great agent of benevolent change, an apostle of hope...or words to that effect? Eerie concidence for a film written in 06.
Does anyone know if Night has commented on this?

That's a little odd, but I think Night's imagination got there first, just a coincedence.

haha, takes a line from what most people think is a bad film, so they won't recognize it, and hey, we've got a new political slogan.  Just kidding.

In fact, Shyamalan wrote the "boy, [from] the midwest of this land" as an African American in his initial drafts.

haha..maybe shyamalan really is from the future. he is quoted saying, "people won't truly understand the village for 10 yrs" and has probably said similar things about other movies.

I cannot agree with this statement, even if made for fun. Lady in the Water is an epic, heart-soothening movie; however, this movie is actually least innocent of all of his work and definitely most serious in terms of content. I ask thee, can you collect that from the movie? ;)
Manoj Night Shyamalan is Charles Baudelaire of movie art. That is non-deniable. Baudelaire's value is non-deniable.

Yeah, I saw this in theaters when it first came out.  I just watched it for the second time tonight and I caught that.  So...I got online and started looking up authors who had been killed for writing something.  The only thing I could find was where Hatfield committed suicide, or some think.  He was the one who wrote Fortunate Son.  Anyways, I kept thinking...a boy who grows up in the Midwest reads a book and becomes a great figure who promotes change.  You would think that would be Obama.  However, Obama grew up as a child in Hawaii with his mom.  It wasn't until he graduated from college that he moved to Chicago.  It was cool while it lasted, though!

NOO! Don't ruin the movie for me!!! lol jk  I think it was just a fluke, there are a lot of kids in the midwest right now who could one day be president...I'd never even heard of Obama until the elections, and this movie's older than that.
There Happen to be Signs in the Village that the Unbreakable Lady in the Water has the Sixth Sense.
