M. Night's Acting
« on: September 01, 2008, 05:54:52 PM »
Thought this might be a good subject to touch on since I didn't find it.

Out of all M. Night's movies (the ones he has acted in) which one do you think has his best performance and worst performance?

My pick for best performance is: The Sixth Sense

He seemed really believable to me, didnt come across hokey at all.

His worst performance:  Tough pick between Unbreakable and LITW.

But... I think I will pick Unbreakable because he really looked like a dork.  His acting was so-so, but his haircut really put me over the top.  He just seemed really lame.  Wasnt believable.

YOUR TURN!   :D

I think I like his appearance in Signs best. It may not be his most well acted but I like it.

His worst: The Village.

Favorite: Signs
Least Favorite: None. (I liked some roles better than others, but the acting was always good.)

I like the small roles more than his big roles. I think a director should only have a small cameo. Therefor I didn't like Lady In The Water and Signs. I think I liked the one in The Village the most (his face in the reflection). His smallest part (in The Happening) was too short of you'd ask me. He should be visable instead of listing to his voice through the phone.

my favorite was signs..i think he came off as believeable, and it didnt require too much of him. i'd say his worst was unbreakable. (litw was ok considering how big of a part he had to play)
See the villain's larger eyes insinuating a just-off-normal perspective on how they see the world? I see signs Lucius Hunt; just not as you see dead people. I am so very happy we saw..each other, and no I will not tell you what color love is. Stop asking.

I think I'd also have to say Signs.  And his worst would be The Happening, because he didn't even really have a part.
I see the world Lucius Hunt, just not the way you see it.

Best: The 6th Sense
Worst: Signs (especially the scene in the car with Gibson outside...didn't like his acting at all)

Yeah, but I think it's fun when the director shows up.

Haha!  This just all reminds me of Hitchcock's "I bet you can't find me" cameos.

And good question Lifeordeath1.  I thought his worst was Lady in the Water, and his best is probably the Sixth Sense.  The Village was an interesting little cameo, I thought it was a good idea to just use his voice but it could have been executed a little better.
Do you think you could beat up Bruce Lee?  I mean, if you knew karate?  What if he wasn't allowed to kick, and you were really mad at him?

In The Village you do see him reflected in the door of the medical box.

Oh, I remember that.  But I'm just saying that his appearence in The Village was nothing like his appearence in LitW.

That's for sure, I think he could make it as a small supporting actor, just not as big as his role in Lady In The Water.

You might also have seen his shadow in the Village, lol..there is a scene when someone is running in front of one of the lights off to the side and it casts a shadow on Ivy's house.
