LOTR is not a remake. It's a new interpretation of the trilogy of books and there have been other interpretations in the past like the cartoons.

Anyway, there are lot of legendary movies I would not want remade. Because then, if the remake is bad, then that's what a lot of people remember about it.

You guys know that they're remaking "Friday the 13th"?

well u might be too young to remmber, but children of the corn is a b-movie classic lol. Based on a stephen king short story and adapted for a night-shift episode and a feature film.

See the villain's larger eyes insinuating a just-off-normal perspective on how they see the world? I see signs Lucius Hunt; just not as you see dead people. I am so very happy we saw..each other, and no I will not tell you what color love is. Stop asking.

They'er remaking "Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds", "Nighmare on Elm street", and I think "Childs Play" also.

I don't think they should ever remake "The Wizard of Oz" (not counting any crapy attemps to make other "versions" of it in the past). Nor any of the Terminator movies, or National Lampoon's Vacation movies. And they should never remake the Pirates of the Caribbean series.

I know they're making THE BIRDS starring Naomi Watts.

Yeah, that might have been one of the reasons they used her in Peter Jackson's "King Kong", because it was set in the 30's you know? (I love that movie by the way.)

I like to list few movies here that I think there should be no remakes at all.

1-Signs.
2-The Village
3-The Sixth Sense
4-Unbreakable
5-Lady In The Water
6-The Happening
7-LOTR Trilogy
8-Godfather 1.2.3
9-Scarface
10-No Country for old men
11-There will be blood
12-Titanic
13-The Dark Knight
14-Passion Of The Christ
15-BOURNE movies...

Please list yours as well.

Titanic ans Scarface are remakes...As popular and influential as The Sixth Sense was, it's bound to be remade with in the next 25 to 30 years.

I made this same argument at the Steven Spielberg forum and they convinced me that great stories deserved to be told to new generations with new insight into the stories, and I agree with them.  Now some of these movies you listed will be remade eventually.

Some movies seem to perfect to be remade, Holloween and Psycho are just two of them, but they were remade.  I still agree that certain movies should never be remade, but on the same hand, like I said before, great stories need new and different ways of telling them.  The question is, if the demand is there or not and if the studio's can make money off of the retelling of them or not.  It's cheaper to re-release a movie than to remake it, so one would think that they would just do that instead.  So, with that being said, we have to take inconsideration that it's not just financial reasons that movies are being made, I think it's also the sensibilities of the director to the material that also determines when and if a movie is remade.  When I'm in my 60's or 70's and The Sixth Sense is remade, I'm the first person in line, cause I can almost tell you that it will someday be remade.

Well okay, the whole point of this thread is that there should be no more remakes of those specific movies that I listed. I don't care if they are remakes now, I just don't want any more remakes.

I know Titanic is a remake, but seriously don't want to see anyone else play Jack Dawson and Rose in the next 20 years.

Thanks

I don't think there should be a remake of The Prestige or Ladder 49.
I see the world Lucius Hunt, just not the way you see it.
