2008 Awards and Nominations for James Newton Howard
« on: December 11, 2008, 07:28:04 PM »
Congrats to James on his Golden Globe nomination.

The score is really beautiful, I highly recommend it to those who haven't heard it yet.

It's a bit reminiscent of The Village.

I've heard some of it, it sounded excellent.  Iron Man also got nominated for the Golden Globe for it's soundtrack, which, by the way, I would probably vote for it over Defiance.

I think the Iron Man score is far worse than Defiance. It was one of the worst scores of the year, IMO.

Anywhos, best of luck James!

Wow, what didn't you like about.  I'm going to have to buy Defiance, I forgot to put it on my Christmas list, looking forward to listening to it.

James Newton Howard is a master when it comes to soundtracks. I have been listening to THE HAPPENINg tracks. It gets real emotional and when you close your eyes that track takes your mind to places you never been before. Imaginary places.

What is oscar charts this year? Is he listed, I am sure he will be listed.

Oscar nominations are later this week. JNH has a good shot at getting nominated for Defiance or Dark Knight.

I just bought Defiance, wow was I stunned, you're right Crowe, it's wasy better than Iron Man.  It may be one of James Newton Howards best.  It was truly amazing, I just kept listening to it over and over again.  I still think The Village is my favorite soundtrack of all time.

You're right, it's not getting enough praise, unfortunately, it's absolutely amazing.  Off all the scores nominated I think Defiance should win, it's about time Howard won an Academy Award, has he won any before?

People, go out and buy this album, it's worth every penny!!

Well, I'm going to hold my breath, because I've heard the other soundtracks, except for Slumdog Millionare, and Defiance deserves to win.

Yea, the score that deserves the win usually never wins though.

Unfortunately, so you don't think it has a good chance of winning?

I think the Benjamin Button, Milk, Wall-E, and Slumdog scores all have an advantage that James' score doesn't -- the movie it's attached to.
