I honestly found this to be a GREAT film

its the kind that makes you go out and google the folklore just to see if its true

but, as i found out, it wasn't, but its still good

Yeah, I wish there was more about the background.
I see the world Lucius Hunt, just not the way you see it.

I think that was intentional, mrglass..to make you want to know more about the background. But it was meant to be a desire, not a fulillment. It's just something that makes the movie that much richer, and emotional. Like you've just begun to remember a good dream you had many years ago, but you just cant get it down right. I find fabricated unfulfilled desires in film or literature to be moving, and a highly skilled art. The movie will stand as it is; it's not middle earth which will continue to realize itself perhaps indefinitely.
See the villain's larger eyes insinuating a just-off-normal perspective on how they see the world? I see signs Lucius Hunt; just not as you see dead people. I am so very happy we saw..each other, and no I will not tell you what color love is. Stop asking.

Yeah, I agree with you Namaste, which is why I want to know more, but won't be able to.

I also got the desire to get to know more about the world and the narfs, scrunts, etc, so I bought the children's book. Well mostly I bought it because I'm obsessed with Night's movies again at the moment. Also bough The Man Who Heard Voices.

It's strange for me, when I went to see this with my friends for the first time, I loved it. They hated it. Didn't understand why.

I think you have to be a little special to appreciate this movie. I myself have a stedfast belief in the supernatural and have a very active imagination, so I think that did the trick, whereas my friends, who are not prone to believing in the supernatural and tend to act very serious and "grown-up" if you understand what I mean, didn't like it.

But everytime I see this movie it gets my imagionation and creativity working. It's really my favourite Shyamalan-movie except maybe for The Village.

Pan's Labyrinth is excellent, a beautiful movie.  Lady In The Water is the same style, in my opinion, very mood heavy, lots of color and light, very imaginative.  You can sink into its world.  Though Pan's Labyrinth is a lot darker and more violent.

I think Lady In the Water is good movie too. It's way of putting together the tale and the real world is very entertaining. I like the naive aspect of this movie. It's just, so hopefull...

Yes, that's the word I was looking for, hopeful, Lady In The Water is very hopeful, especially with the ending, when she flies away, and everyone is looking forward to the future.
