I just watched the special features for Unbreakable and there was a lot of talk by the producers and Night about making a realistic superhero story. For the first few years of superhero films they tried to be slightly realistic, but never quite pulled it off-except for the X-Men in my opinion, but here Night was, making a superhero movie with a heart, and if there were to be superheroes in the world, this is what they'd be like. He was ahead of his time. It wasn't until Batman Begins, Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, and the Dark Knight, and superhero movies that are yet to come, that they tried to be as realistic as possible, and here Night was doing it 8 years ago.
