Hi all, I was born in a suburb of London (England), but moved down to Kent (the county that is the garden of England) when I was seven years old - twenty years ago now!

That's cool, what's the weather like out there.

Hi, Orandhite! What 'burb were you born in? We lived in Berks for awhile in the late 90s'. I thought *it* was the garden of England! :P

Are those areas urbanized, or is there still lots of forests in that area.

I don't know about forests, but there are lots of beautiful gardens and parks in southern England. It's pretty amazing, really. The English are really bonkers about their gardening.  :)

The weather's pretty nice.  I like that we get all kinds of seasons over here.  The only problem is that it is changeable on an hourly basis, so can be raining hard one minute, and then hot and sunny the next!  It's a bit of pain if you're going out for the day!

I was born in Barking which is in Essex on the East of London near where the Thames opens out into the sea.  Kent is definitely the Garden of England (or at least it is marketed that way!), but I went to University in Reading which is in Berkshire.

There are still quite a lot of green areas but towns are getting very built up.  Mainly because there is not so much space in England, so councils are trying to build up towns more, packing houses in tightly, which means that the green belts are kept green.  The problem with that is that the transportation networks cannot cope with the increased activity and are pushed to their capacity on a daily basis, resulting in gridlock all the time!

But where I live, there are woods at the end of the garden, the houses are not too tightly packed together, and there is plenty of countryside.

That's cool, sounds like a nice place to live, except for the constantly changing weather.  Right now in Virginia it feels like spring, even though it is February, which I love.

I have a friend who lives in Montana, he says there isn't much out there.  Still, Mr. Stone, sounds like you have a cool wife, don't worry you'll end up visiting someplace exotic once in your life.  Like Virginia.  ;)

Ironically enough, the #1 place I'd actually like to move to before too long is Virginia.  So maybe I'll end up in your neck of the woods Mr. Glass!
