Score For The Village Oscar Nominated!

:D  Awesome! James finally gets some recognition for his superb work for M. Night. I couldn't be happier.

The 2005 Oscar Nominations
The Village (James Newton Howard)
Finding Neverland (Jan Kaczmarek)
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (John Williams)
The Passion of the Christ (John Debney)
Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events (Thomas Newman)

A strong field, but James Newton Howard's score is so effective and so beautiful, it has a chance!

Just so glad it was nominated, after the negative talk about the movie.

I rather enjoyed The Village myself, very well crafted movie, with great acting!

Cheers (my first post :))

 Cheers!

Welcome to the site!  I'm hoping that in the months to come, more and more fans get here, and are brave enough to register and to join the community of M. Night fans!

I love the Village and the Score for it.  Hilary Hahn did some great work on the score also.

James's nomination was the only one I really liked - and it was very surprising and deserving.
The movie received the "venom" from the press and from many viewers - yet the Academy recognized the true beauty of its score. Great.

the truth is out there

I watched FINDING NEVERLANd two weeks ago and in my humble and non-expert opinion, James's score was much more memorable and deserving the award.

OMG!!!!  i was so excited when he got nominated!  i watched the whole award show to see if he won.  but he didn't.  i was so upset, but thank god harry potter didn't win!

but don't you think award shows do seem to defeat the art of film and music?  you can't judge art and pick one over another, but they still try.

Oa AFI's list on the 100 greatest film scores of all time, Howard's The Village was rated 74th. One of the best 100 ever! That's an achievement!

 wow, first post!  cool.

hi!  i don't really feel like i can say welcome to you cause i'm only kinda new here too!

post a lot!!!  that would be cool.  i get lonely when no one posts.  god that's sad of me.

so.  what are people's fave village tracks?

mine is 'race to resting rock'.  it used to be the gravel road, but i don't know.  i still cry in it, but this one's so...pure and innocent.  i love it.  i live for purity and innocence.  anyway...

wow, long post to talk about nothing in.

My favorite track would probably have to be either "Noah Visits" or "The Gravel Road."

It's weird, "The Gravel Road" opening reminds me of AC/DC's "Thunderstruck" opening.

It was a travesty that this score didn't win the Oscar.
