Phone Call To David Dunn
« on: February 18, 2006, 03:07:08 PM »
Ok, M. Night fans. There is something that has been in my mind since I saw Unbreakable for the first time. I wish one day I can have a dinner with M. and ask him this. Until then, I'll ask you guys. Elijah leaves a message on David's answering machine explaining his weakness to water. When the message starts, it sounds like an ansering machine, muffled, distorted, crackling, but as he explains and continues to talk, the sound slowly dissolves to Elija's voice being more clear, until his last line, "can you hear me, David?", it sounds like he is right there next to him.

It probably means nothing, but I noticed that and it blew me away, I like little details like that.

My son and I noticed this detail last night (we had an M. Night Marathon). We were not sure if it was on purpose or not because of the timing. We replayed the moment a few times, and it does seem to be deliberate.

I thought it was on purpose, the fact that David is finally understanding what is going on.  The recognition slowly seeps in before he realizes.  Avatar_Mom you said you had an M. Night marathon, did you watch all of his movies?  ??? :o

I think I did, at least all the ones I am aware of. I didn't watch Stuart Little...hehehe (I haven't seen that one in awhile)

My brother (who is another ginormous Avatar fan) sat and watched all of them, and my son sat with us for the ones he could handle :D

It's been so long since I saw the films, I needed to update my appreciation for them.

Sorry about going off topic there :D

NO, that's fine, and cool.  I think if you ever see a little thing in a Night film, that's seems somewhat odd, then it is probably there for a reason.  That's just the way Night directs.

Yeah, you are right!  I just watched "U" last night and I thought the same thing!  Wierd.  Very wierd.  I was like, "What the heck?  Is that a screw up in the audio?"  Maybe not...

Yea, I found the same thing.  See, this is why Night needs to put a commentary on his DVD's, answer some of these questions.

Does anyone know why Night didnt put one of his old home made films on LITW?  I know he did with most, if not all other ones.

You know, you're right.  There isn't one, unless it is hidden,  I'll have to check in all the normal spots where there are easter eggs.
