I know what you mean, you say these are your top scenes but you could list bunches more.
I see the world Lucius Hunt, just not the way you see it.

i'll go with a cheesy scene, but it's one i love:

merrill in the recruiters office with lionel when he acts like he's gonna punch him.  i just find that terribly amusing.  :D

No, that's a great scene, it sets up Merill as someone who won't back down, who's not afraid to get his hands dirty.

Yea, and hey, that's quite useful at the end, when the alien needs taking down.

i always thought it took merrill a second or two too long to understand what graham was saying, i've wanted to grab that bat off the wall at lightning speed and whack HIM with it a million times...

I think Merrill realised what Graham was saying but was afraid of what the alien would do to Morgan, and he was right, as soon as he picked up the bat the alien sprayed Morgan with his poison, and then had himself beat to death by Merrill.

Lol. I know what you mean. :)... In Merrill's defense though, didn't Graham repeat what his dying wife had said, "Swing away, Merrill." Or something like that? So it wasn't like he spelled it out: "Merrill, take the bat and attack the giant ugly thing in our living room."  Using the phrase, "Swing away," and so calmly, isn't exactly the way most people would talk under the circumstances, so probably Merrill's first, split-second reaction was, "Huh?"

That's true, I think the way it was filmed also made it appear slower.

That's true, I think the way it was filmed also made it appear slower.

I wonder why. To let the audience recognize the phrase from the dying wife and have the same epiphany Graham was having? (Or at least to recognize how Graham's mind was slowly but surely piecing things together?)

That's what I had always thought.  In each of Night's films at the end, as the main character pieces everything together, so do you.  I think it gives you much more of an attraction with the character, you feel what he feels.

"there's a monster outside my room, can i have a glass of water?"
wow..how unappropriate and yet so profoundly appropriate at the same time.
See the villain's larger eyes insinuating a just-off-normal perspective on how they see the world? I see signs Lucius Hunt; just not as you see dead people. I am so very happy we saw..each other, and no I will not tell you what color love is. Stop asking.
