On "The View", M. Night Shyamalan said to the hosts that his next film was in the sci-fi genre. He kinda implied that Paul Giamatti was in it, because he mentioned that Bryce Dallas Howard would not be cast by her anymore since being in two movies (big dissapointment!!) Anybody excited for this?? Any thoughts??

Paul Giamatti is a smaller star, but he's got a lot of credentials to his name.  He may not be the biggest star, but he's a fantastic actor, and deserves all the great roles that he can get.

This stuff seems a little confusing at first, but I'm going to lay-out all that I remeber hearing....

He has stated he has two Ideas
-One is Sci-Fi/Adventure in a similar realm to Jurassic Park
-The other is a Dark/Mystery in the vien of Agatha Chrisite and Alfred Hitchcock.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok, now that we know that, let's look back.
Here is a breakdown of events/interviews when he has talked about this stuff.

In an interview after ShoWest this year he said that his next movie is 'very hitchcockian'.

In an interview during the press junkets for 'Lady', Shyamalan stated that he won't say much, but his next film will have a 'big star'.

On 'The View' (pre 'Lady' release) he said his next movie was Sci-Fi

It was in a recent interview with Time Magazine that he went back to saying he has two ideas and he's not sure which one to do.
I'm still trying to figure out which came first, the Time magazine interview, or The View....anyone?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok, now with all that in mind...
Who's this big star eh?
Is it someone he has wrote the part for?
Someone he as already talked to about it?
When I think of big stars I think of:
Tom Hanks
Tom Cruise
Julia Roberts
Johnny Depp
Brad Pitt
Denzel Washington
hmmm...(starting to run out of ideas)
Bruce Willis
Sam Jackson
Morgan Freeman
Mel Gibson
Nicole Kidman
Will Smith

who have I left out?
comments, thoughts, ideas?

p.s.
Wow, what a long post.
Great Topic and Forum Specter!

yea, the time magazine was before the view, the view is most current.

Dunno, if he wants to score with critics, do sci-fi, if he wants to score with audiences, do scariest one.

Sounds like the SciFi one is ment to win back the audience
and
the Dark/Mystery one is ment to win back the critics

Hopefully he can do both

Hopefully, he can get back to form, like in the Village, and stop being so damn sensitive to things said about him.

I wasn't knocking him as an actor at all, I just wasn't classifying him as a big star.  ;)

i actually do think of giamatti as a big star.  he's got cred, awards, this and that, and less bad publicity than some of the others...

re: the list of big stars above, it seems like he has a relationship with johnny depp (who appeared as a favor in buried secrets of m. night shyamalan).  hope it's him!

I would freak if it was Johnny Depp, just freak!
My brother would freak if it was Denzel Washington.

For some reason I'm thinking it's Tom Hanks or Johnny Depp. It's just a feelin, but you never know. Too bad we'll have to wait 6-10 months to find out.

Big star...could it be a female role? If so, who would that be?

They say this one has a surprise ending.

In my list I put Julia Roberts and Nicole Kidman. I'm trying to think of other female leads that can sell a movie just on their name alone. I know there are others.
