Special thanks to Kevin Kehoe for the updates to this casting call.  And a thank you for defending our freedom.  I have a few friends in the military, and great respect for it.

A note to those protesting the casting: please don’t spam every story on this website with the information.  It already appears on another story.  If you want it here, then let me know and I’ll delete it from the other comments.  It’s not professional and reflects poorly.

  1. Why are they asking for only ethnic background people but the main cast is white? Will they be hiring white actors for background to?

  2. The casting call from last week was all-inclusive.

Melissa and William: I am sure that white people could have and most likely DID show up for casting last week. They didn't say they could not show up.

Airot: It looks like this week they're asking for those specific ethnicities. Last weeks casting, again, asked for people of any and all ethnicities.

Another note: I didn't see where on that casting call or the one for last weeks, that they asked for “Koreans in kimonos.” From what I understand, it was a quote in a newspaper. I would like to get a statement from that paper that the copy writer for that paper didn't summarize or mis-quote the casting director. Also, Korean clothing such as this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanbok appears very much like a Kimono. I can understand a misunderstanding there.

  3. Hold on… Let me get this right.
The lead roles are going to be Caucasian and the background characters are going to be Asian in a Universe where Caucasians don't exist?
Wouldn't that perpetuate that Asians are not talented enough to be Asian?

  4. To concerned parent. Yes, that is what they are doing and that is why so many are protesting this movie because of the casting.

A good plus for those who will not be seeing the movie because of this. Nickelodeon will be airing a three hour special (an hour for each book) never before seen of the Avatar which is what I will be looking forward to, with the let down of this movie.

  5. Ah yes. All the white people get speaking roles, save for one brown dude… but when they need some background basket-weavers and candle-makers, that's when they have an open call for “Far Eastern, Middle Eastern, Asian, Mediterranean and Latino” types. I see how it is.

  6. if ya’ll no anything about auditions for avatar the last airbender book2 please tell me or anyone else!!!
please tell because i really want to audition for katara!!

    THANK YOU!!!:)
