M. Night Shyamalan Still Considering Unbreakable 2. Will It Ever Happen?

Jon (spikeshinizle on the boards) wrote to us, informing us of an amazing new article detailing what might have been, or could be some day: Unbreakable 2.

“I genuinely just asked this question the other day – should I make ‘Unbreakable 2’?”

Shyamalan even sat down with [Samuel L.] Jackson during the film’s production to discuss where his character could and would go had the film spawned a sequel.

“Back then we talked about what the rest would entail,” recalled Jackson. “I broke out of the mental institution. I’m out there doing stuff and [“Unbreakable” co-star Bruce Willis’ “David Dunn” is] after me. It’s very cool. He still wears that rain thing, that windbreaker.”

So the idea seems to be there, and Jackson’s ready to break out the funky hair-do(n’t) and purple suit, so – bottom line – will we see an”Unbreakable 2,” Mr. Shyamalan?

“I do love the [comic book movie] genre, I just wanna make sure that I’m able to express who I am,” explained Shyamalan. “I don’t want toget so lost in the subject that I have to neuter everything that’s me in it, so maybe ‘Unbreakable’ is the comic book thing I should do – I keep coming back to that.”

We’ll take that as a solid “maybe.”

  1. This is been talked about before, let me know when a deal has been signed.

And yes Sri HK, we are following what is being posted in the forums.

  2. Just watched Unbreakable the other day. I forgot how much I loved that film until I viewed it again. A sequel would be interesting…yes…I could see it now. Would David's son get involved in some way with Elijah?

  3. I think it would be really cool, it's just that rumors like this have been going on for a while now. I'll believe when contracts are actually signed.

  4. 😉 I think the point made about David's son becoming involved with Elijah is truly interesting for two reasons:
    1. He has the tendency (the most unusual kitchen scene)
    2. Remember the quote 'I'm not like you' which could mean many things'

  5. 😉 Also I think the final scene where David's son appears also foretells trouble for him. The orange streak running through his shirt..the 'glass' of 'orange' juice he consumes. In many ways, he helped David realise who he is, the same as Elijah did. I think the point they both have in common is that they are both troubled.
