Before Christopher Nolan directed “Batman Begins” and before Bryan Singer directed “Superman” returns Warner Bros was looking for helmers to bring these iconic characters to the big screen.
One of the directors the studio went to was M. Night Shyamalan, who was just coming off his massive hit “The Sixth Sense.” “I had conversations with Warner Bros about ‘Superman’ and ‘Batman,’” Shyamalan told MTV.
He added that all that thinking about comic books got him excited about making an original superhero movie. “If they haven’t called, I probably wouldn’t have done ‘Unbreakable,’” Shyamalan explained. “It was thinking about ‘Superman’ and ‘Batman,’ and how I would do it.”
