Night Shyamalan’s three-film slate with Media Rights Capital.

Also rounding out the ensemble cast ahead of an Oct. 24 production start are Chris Messina, Bojana Novakovic, Bokeem Woodbine, Geoffrey Arend and Caroline Dhavernas.

Universal will distribute “Devil,” the first project from Shyamalan’s The Night Chronicles financing/production partnership with MRC.

Shyamalan and Sam Mercer will produce. Drew Dowdle and Trish Hofmann will executive produce the project from a Brian Nelson script. Ashwin Rajan is overseeing the project for The Night Chronicles.

Night Shyamalan story that will be directed by John Erick Dowdle and Drew Dowdle (“Quarantine”).

Production begins in Toronto on Oct. 26.

Pic is being produced by Shyamalan and Sam Mercer. It is the first pic in a deal between Shyamalan and Media Rights Capital to create Night Chronicles, a banner that will hatch one genre film per year for the next three years.

Brian Nelson (“30 Days of Night”) wrote the script. The Dowdles will be exec producers.

Plot’s being kept under wraps, but sources said Messina plays the lead role of Bowden, a sobered-up homicide detective. Messina most recently starred in “Julie and Julia” and “Vicky Cristina Barcelona.”

Night Shyamalan and fellow filmmakers hosted the thriller’s wrap party Saturday night. (The idea: Celebrate while the entire cast is still in town.)

The several hundred revelers at the TPDS party space in Washington Square West knew they were in for something special, apart from the flutes of champagne that greeted them. Call it a sixth sense.

Bruce Willis showed up.

Shyamalan (with wife Bhavna) had invited Willis, his star of The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable, to join The Happening’s crew and cast, including Mark Wahlberg, Zooey Deschanel, Betty Buckley and Robert Bailey Jr., plus producers Sam Mercer and Jose Rodriguez (with wife Michelle). Shyamalan had black-and-white movies, including Citizen Kane, playing on projectors to help set the mood, said TPDS’s Delores Browne. Willis and the Shyamalans closed the place.

The company yesterday struck its set in Plumsteadville, Bucks County.  Next stop will be Ridley Creek State Park in Delaware County, followed by interiors on a soundstage at the Navy Yard in South Philly.

Night Shyamalan’s 20th Century Fox thriller “The Happening.” Helmer’s “Unbreakable” and “Sixth Sense” producer Barry Mendel will produce with Sam Mercer.

Deschanel’s credits include the upcoming “Surf’s Up,” “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford” with Brad Pitt, “Bridge to Terabithia,” and “Failure to Launch.” Thesp comes form a show biz family; father is cinematographer Caleb Deschanel, mother is actress Mary Jo Deschanel, as is sister Emily.

You may also remember her from her roles in “Elf” and “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.”  I, for one, am getting more and more excited about this cast!
