After Earth is officially wrapped

Well, it seems like there was a bit of a twist on my reporting regarding the shoot in Moab, Utah. I was under the impression that the shoot was going to begin during the second week of June for some odd reason. I apologize for that. – But, I’m thrilled to write this article and share with everyone that the shooting for After Earth is officially wrapped. Yes, Mr. Shyamalan officially announced it via twitter later today.

Shyamalan went on and emotionally tweeted, the movie business is a circus life. We come together and then disperse. It is intense and heartbreaking when it ends. It is for me. And, he also stated, movie people are gypsies. It is our chosen lifestyle. Shooting of After Earth began from Costa Rica to Philadelphia then from Northern California to Moab, Utah. Will Smith and his son Jaden Smith are playing as father (Jack) and son (Kitai) in the story, their spaceship crash lands on Earth thousand years after it has been abandoned by mankind.  Father, badly injured from the crash, is captured by a remaining Earth-dwelling colony, leaving his son to find and save him on a planet that is now a strange and dangerous place.

Principal photography for After Earth officially began in February 2012. The script was originally written by Gary Whitta, rewritten by Shyamalan and finally polished by Stephen Gaghan in late 2011. Filming of After Earth was done using Sony’s CineAlta F65 camera, which was shipped in January 2012. The film also stars Isabelle Fuhrman, Zoe Kravitz, and Sophie Okonedo. After Earth is going to open on June 7, 2013 on the big screens.
