Title: Writing contest
Post by: Erik on June 13, 2008, 04:55:49 PM
Hey guys,

I was thinking: is anyone up for a small screenplay writing contest? Just for the fun. Here are some basic rules:

1. The screenplay must be at least 5 pages and 10 pages maximum.
-A front page with the title must be included, that one doesn't count as a page.
2. The screenplay must include this line: "Sometimes we leave things to be found".
-A different line with the same content is allowed
3. Every genre is allowed, from Horror to Romance, Comedy to Science-Fiction.
-Except an erotic story, I think that's against the forum rules.
4. Screenplays must be online by June 30th.
-I link for download or view must be placed in a new topic. Please place all screenplays in the same topic instead of a new topic for every screenplay
5. Everyone can enter, everyone can vote
-Even if you don't enter a screenplay, you can still vote. Rank all screenplays from best (1st place) to worst (last place)
7. Good luck to all!

So, who's up?

Participants:
1. Erik
2. Sanford
3. Lifeordeath1 (Not sure)
4. the_sorcerer
5. MrStone
6. You?

By june 30?  I would love to, but I dont know if I have enough time right now.  Could we make it longer?  If not, I might certainly try.

i think i would be interested, but not sure at this point.  i'm really focused on my other story, but a short story might be a nice break.

A short one of 5 pages is enough. I thought it would be a nice idea to try. Maybe if this turns out to be quite fun, we can have one once a half year or something. The winner can call himself the best screenplay writer of the forum for 6 months :D

Hey guys,

Tomorrow is the date, how's everyone's writing going? I just got back from holiday, so I've none writing going on at this time.
I will start tonight, hoping to have at least something, but how are you guys? Are you finished or do you need some more time? :D

Oooh, count me in (hope I'm not too late). I have a short screenplay I actually just started shooting on yesterday. I think I can trim it down to ten pages, and I'll find an area to include that line.

UPDATE: Kay, my screenplay is up.

I altered the line a bit to read "sometimes we leave lost things to be found"

I hope that's ok.

I started a new topic on the Aspiring Filmmakers board, so all of our screenplays can go there.

We should have another one later, because I don't have time now.

I think we will have another one. Let's start one every six months. This will mean that the end date for the next contest is December 31th.

Sounds cool to me, can I write multiple shorts.  Is it still the same line that we have to use.

No, I'm not intending to use a line every time. Maybe the next time we try a specific genre. But I think it's a good thing that there always is something that connects every story.

Alright, right now it's july second.
That means that a few people are late with entering their story to the contest.

I don't know what the rest think of it, but I will give you one week extra (this means till 7th of July). But what is the opinion of the rest?

Still won't have the time, sorry.  I'm getting ready for a missions trip down to Nicaragua.

It's not really a succes is it?
It's already the 9th of July, so there are only 2 stories entered. Let's go for the voting.
