Title: Inception: Christopher Nolan's Next Film
Post by: shadowbender on February 11, 2009, 06:31:50 PM
It was just announced today that Christopher Nolan has signed on with Warner Bros. Pictures to produce a sci-fi action film he wrote, titled "Inception". He will produce alongside Emma Thomas, one of the producers for "The Dark Knight". "Inception" is being told as "a contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind". Warner Bros. has stated that they are very excited to be working with Nolan.

A third Batman movie will have to wait, but "Inception" sounds awesome, and I think it's safe to say that this will be another hit from Christopher Nolan.

The last time Nolan made a movie between two batman films we watched "The Prestige"  Which was a great movie. So for that I'm thrilled. Nolan, making a sci fi flick. That's gonna be awesome.

The Prestige was amazing, if I didn't have to go over to a friends house I would have walked out of th theater and bought a ticket for the next showing.

Alright!

Exactly what I wanted! A non-Batman movie for Nolan, to return with a third part after this one! Just like he did between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight: The Prestige!

Unfortunately I haven't seen Memento-yet- when I get the chance I am going to watch it, and hopefully enjoy it.  I think Christopher Nolan is an amazing director.

Memento is awesom!
His least good movie is Insomnia. I still don't understand why he made that one. It's not his style. Though I have to say that I haven't seen Following yet. I am currious about that one, but don't expect too much of it.

I love Insomnia, and I do think it's his style! Great movie.

Following is very good too. It's a great little "no-budget" film.

Alright, I'm still hoping on a copy from the UK of Following. My brother's girlfriend lives in Scotland. She is also searching for a copy of Wide Awake for me. I gave her a list of 3 DVD's, one of them (Cinema 16, British Short Films. Including Nolan's Doodlebug) is already in my collection :)

I love Blood Diamond. The story isn't spectacular or anything, but the dialog and acting are brilliant. I could quote that movie all day.

One of my favorites.

Speaking of Leonardo, I just saw "Gilbert Grape", a movie starring Johnny Depp and Leonardo DiCaprio when he was very young. DiCaprio plays an 18 year old retarded child, and if I didn't know who Leonardo was, I would've seriously thought he was mentally challenged in real life. His performance is amazing, and so is Depp's. I recommend it if you haven't seen it already.

No, not yet. Hopefully, more news should pop up soon.

EDIT: Ehh! No, there is new info. "Inception" is set to be released on July 16, 2010. Unfortunately, it's released the same day as "Thor".

Oh, they just changed the release date of "Thor" today.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be joining the cast of Inception (http://www.nolanfans.com/inception.php). w00t!

I love Joseph! He's been brilliant lately. Is anyone else really amazed by the amount of brilliant actor's Chris is getting for this film?
Title: Re: Inception: Christopher Nolan's Next Film

Adding Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the list of the cast is now making this movie even more better. I am happy with the casting. I hope the story and plot works out the best. I am saying the best because I know 'The Dark Knight' is Christopher Nolan's best work yet.

Michael Caine is joining as well! Yes.

Unfortunately, he said he'll have a small part. But he said the film will be extraordinary. I can't wait.

Inception Trailer : Spoiler.

Now, I wont give much away because it was a pretty good teaser trailer. It got you wanting more. Their is actual footage of the movie, with Leo and others. Their is One fight scene in what looks to be in a hotel hallway, but not just any fight scene. They were fighting all over the hallway, on side walls, ceilings everywhere. I thought Matrix (Don't panic it's not the matrix but thats what I came up with) Its gonna be a trippy movie. The end music kind of reminded me of Terminator, not the theme music but u will know what I'm talking about. Its only like a minute long and you will want to watch again to see what you just saw.

All in all, it was really good.

More Details

It starts with the Warner Bros Logo in grey

Then you see Chris Nolan name

This dradle like thing is spinning around.

then Director- The Dark Knight words

You see leo's face

over shot of a city, shaking camera shot.

Words come on screen YOUR MIND

Shot of Leo

More words IS THE SCENE OF THE CRIME

Then you see a glass of water, with the water in the glass startes to tilt

people fighting in hallway The word INCEPTION comes up

then SUMMER 2010

Man oh man...so here we, with four more days to go until "Inception" releases, and I can't stop thinking about it. The movie's getting unbelievable reviews, with some critics calling it a masterpiece. And then I had to make a terribly hard decision. There was an extended TV Spot online that was showing a ton of new footage, but I read a review where it said you should go into the movie knowing as little about it as possible. I already know a lot about the movie, but I wanted to go in as fresh as possible, and as much as I really wanted to see all that new footage, I made the decision to exit the video, because I feel like it would be worth it in the end. I'm so pumped for Inception, is anyone else feeling the same right now?!

I saw Inception opening day, and I'll probably write up a review later, but let me say this: My gosh was this one amazing, fantastic film. Thought-provoking, wondrous, super-intense, entertaining-- some of the many great things that describe this film. It addresses all of those wonders we all ponder about dreams. So many genius ideas and scenes, very intense and dramatic at the end. Superbly well-acted. Makes you really think and wonder. A brilliant movie.

I saw it saturday evening. I'll start by saying it is the best new movie I've seen all year (including Avatar). It was very well paced and there was not a second wasted. You will get your full money's worth out of this movie, especially since it is over 2 1/2 hours long. I think I'll actually go see it again in theaters (probably bring some friends along who need to see it). I almost never go see a movie more than once. I need to collect my thoughts though so I'll have to watch it again to properly review it. I loved the ending and I think it's the best way it could have ended. I was impressed by the boldness of the decision to end that way.

Oh, and Shyamalan admitted The Village is his favorite movie he's done  :)

Inception and The Village are both classic. It would be awesome if Lucious would had the chance of getting into the mind of Mr. Walker.

I will absolutely be watching this movie again in theaters (I have only done this with AVATAR, and it was only because of the awesome 3D visuals)--it's a story I want to experience again and again.

And I don't know what The Village has to do with this movie. Lol.

Loved it. Love Sci-Fi things anyway but this is probably gonna' become one of my favorites. Bit more of an emotional hook than The Matrix, even if the action wasn't always quite as cool (there's actually a great explanation given for why they can't keep bending the rules inside the dream though - so I was really pleased about that)

I think there probably were a few flaws (almost typed 'floors' there - which would have also been true of the film ;)) but one of them is kinda definitely necessary to make the film actually work so gotta kinda forgive it. And in fact I loved what became of that flaw anyway (urgh so hard to make sense without spoilers!) so I wouldn't even change it - a film's doing well really if you're even enjoying it's mistakes.

Anyway, the film had a lot of really clever cool ideas, I think part of my personal enjoyment came from trying to keep up with it and actually listening to rules and tricks that occur in the dream. I was just interested.

So yeah I was emotionally invested in Cobb, it was always exciting and intriguing and it was told really effectively (for my palette), just a really cool thing to watch. But a cool thing with heart and threat. Liked the characters as well.

The ending is probably love it or hate it. My brother thought it was cheap. I thought it was kinda infuriating in an enjoyable way - kinda just laughed and cursed Chris Nolan for doing it to me.

And it looks awesome too.

Yeah, my friends and I actually hated it, but a lot of people liked it so I do reccommend seeing it for yourself. I'm used to being the oddball. lol

I've just read an amazing article that I've posted below. Sure, there are some things I don't agree with, but the theory this writer presents here is astounding.

http://chud.com/articles/articles/24477/1/NEVER-WAKE-UP-THE-MEANING-AND-SECRET-OF-INCEPTION/Page1.html

And for those of you who haven't seen Inception, I have two directions for you to follow:

1. Do not read the article  I have posted. Major spoilers.

2. Go see it right away, it's a spectacular film.

Great article! I don't agree with everything, but most of it is good.
"As soon as the audience is pulled out of the movie by some element - an implausible scene, a ludicrous line, a poor performance - it's possible that the cinematic dream spell is broken completely, and they're lost. "

That's very insightful. And, by the way, that happened to me during Transformers 2

@Rohan, why do you always want a sequel to every good movie? I don't see what there is left to tell... Maybe a prequel. maayyybe

Ahahaah.... I would love to see a sequel or prequel. It doesn't matter to me, but in my opinion a sequel would be nice.

Rohan, what would you want to see in the sequel? Cob finally realizing he needs to escape from the dream?

Nice one. It is what it is like I said that I don't know what to see in a sequel, but whenever he makes one I will gladly watch it to find out what else Nolan's mind can bring into the plate. If the cast refuses to work for a sequel if Nolan chooses to direct it then I wouldn't want Nolan to take that risk and it is just better to leave it as one corner stone.

I think if Nolan can do Inception as well as he did, then he should be able to create another great movie about a different world.

That would be nice. Do you think that the new Batman movie will be is last Batman?

I don't know if i want Nolan to do another Batman movie. Dark Knight was too politically-motivated for me.

Personally I want him to jump into different stories irrelevant to Batman or any other type of suerhero story.
