'Quantum of Solace' Stirs up a Win
« on: November 16, 2008, 03:57:57 PM »
The latest James Bond adventure shook up the box office record books this weekend with a $70.4 mil debut, the best 007 opening of all time.

The less the gadgets, the better the movie. I was never impressed by previous bond films. Then came "Casino Royale" I was impressed big time, I started loving this bond films. More actions with less gadgets. Last night, I saw 'Quantum of Solace' and let me tell you the truth, I was impressed this time big big time. More action and action. Perfectly directed. And the other best thing about 'Quantum of Solace' is OLGA, the russian chick.

I recommend, watch it.

I liked Casino Royale, I just haven't gotten around to seeing QOS.
I see the world Lucius Hunt, just not the way you see it.

For the most part though, I've heard it isn't as good as Casino Royale.

I personally did not like it. I expected soooo much more, and yes, Casino Royal is much better.

Yeah I was never really impressed with the pre Casino Royale Bond movies either. I mean some of them were probably good as far as daft action films are concerned but I never really cared for them or for Bond as a character.

I loved Royale from the opening scene (and the awesome credits/theme song) though and so was pretty nervous about how Solace was gonna' turn out but yeah it definetly matched my expectations.

Not sure which I prefer of the 2...need to watch Solace again first... but they're definetly the 2 best Bond's i've seen.

And yeah Olga's pretty damn hot for sure.

EDIT:

I wasn't really impressed with the villain however. I mean I suppose the Bourne films (which I think are awesome) never really had an impressive villain but it didn't seem to matter to me much in those. Davian from MI3 though was one of the best villains ever imo. Not sure if it was down to the acting or the writing but I really felt that that guy was a really bad man

Yeah, Davian from MI3 is really good, I also though Obadiah Stane from Iron Man was really good.

Don't listen to critics. Watch it and you will like it.

I've never been a bond film in my life. CASINO ROYALE changed it for me. After watching QOS, I will be looking forward to the next version. The villian was good, but not that much of a bad ass. The villian also played Villian in Steven Speilberg's "Munich" he was pretty good. He is a good actor.

I would love to see Philip Seymour Hoffman (Mi3) in a bond film. I hope in the next version.

Olga is pretty much the hottest bond girl ever.

Yeah, Davian from MI3 is really good, I also though Obadiah Stane from Iron Man was really good.

Can't say I really thought much of Stain  :-\. I suppose any superhero villain will seem poor after seeing The Joker in TDK but I actually thought Falconey or w/e from Batman Begins was better than Stane.

Maybe it's 'cos it was Jeff Bridges playing him I don't know.

I do know I loved Tony Stark though! He's just a really fun character. And the way Iron Man ends is just brilliant - probably equated to about 90% of my overall enjoyment of the film.

I just thought Bridges played a very subtle, almost scary Obadiah Stane, a lot of stuff going on under the surface, very subtle.  In particular the scene towards the end of the movie when Pepper Potts has to get the information for Tony, and then Obadiah walks in.

No doubt that was a tense scene. I woulda knew something was up though. Pepper Potts...typing away at my personal computer...acting all anxious...Nah I woulda just captured her right there and then tbh

That was a great scene in "Iron Man". I love that movie. Quantum of Solace was great too.

That was actually Tony's computer, not Stane's.
