  1. Am a hardcore M. Night fan and have loved most everything he’s done, even the incredible flawed Airbender I thought had a really good heart. With that said was really thrilled with The Visit, and was highly anticipating Split. As a thriller it does not disappoint. However as a fan of the more lighthearted fare (yes that includes The Sixth Sense, The Village, Signs, and Lady in the Water)… I have to say I was a little disturbed and off-put at times. It all makes sense to the plot, and it is very effective and intense, but I must say I did long for the early days. Without spoiling anything I will say that the ending more than makes up for any grievances I had with the more disturbing elements. If you’re a Shyamalan fan… it is definitely worth your while.

    • I agree with you about the disturbing elements of the film. It dives into places that Shyamalan has not gone before, but are important places for the story, to make the heroes of the story all the more heroic.

      • I definitely agree. Necessary elements for the building of the story (a pretty complex one at that). It’s never just good guy/bad guy… there’s always an element of choice in each character. And the points were driven home with the idea of suffering making you stronger. But also just adding another question on top of that: What then do you do with your power? I love that Shyamalan tends to show the repercussions, not the resolution. I’m really excited to see what he has in store for his next project. (Fingers crossed for Lady in the Water 2 cus… man that was heavy.)
