Overview

Labor of Love is one of the most intriguing unrealized projects in M. Night Shyamalan’s career. The film was set up as a passion project for Bruce Willis, with Shyamalan describing it as an older love story rather than a thriller built around a twist or a genre hook.

That alone made it stand out. A quieter, more romantic Shyamalan project starring Willis sounded like a major departure, especially coming from the creative partnership that had already produced The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, and would later reconnect on Glass.

What the project was

Unlike many of Shyamalan’s films, Labor of Love never reached the stage where fans could measure trailers, casting waves, or release-date changes. What remains is the shape of the idea itself: an intimate story about older love, loss, and emotional connection.
