Overview
The Visit is M. Night Shyamalan’s 2015 found-footage thriller starring Olivia DeJonge, Ed Oxenbould, Deanna Dunagan, and Peter McRobbie. The film follows two siblings sent to spend time with their estranged grandparents, only to discover that something is deeply wrong in the house.
The movie marked an important reset in Shyamalan’s career. It is smaller, nastier, funnier in a very uneasy way, and much more willing to let embarrassment sit right next to fear. The found-footage frame could have made it disposable. Instead, it gives the film a homemade intimacy that makes the weirdness land harder.
